Make room for your next chapter with a pace you choose.

Divide a word count by your chosen words-per-minute pace. You can paste a passage to estimate its word count locally, or enter the count from your document editor.
Minutes = words ÷ words per minute
1,200 words at 200 words per minute is six minutes. The displayed duration rounds up to a whole second. This does not make the underlying estimate precise to the second.
Time a sample of similar material, then divide its word count by the minutes used. Add separate time for diagrams, notes, exercises, or unfamiliar concepts. The text counter splits at whitespace and is intended for English prose.
